NASHVILLE, TN — North Precinct detectives have not yet determined why two gunmen chose a home at 1071 Capitol Point for robbery just before midnight Tuesday. One of the residents, 17-year-old Ja’Donte Thompson (also known by some as Ja’Donte Hancock), a student at Hillsboro High School, was fatally wounded when he scuffled with one of the gunmen.

The four residents were in bed when the two gunmen kicked in the back door and went to the area of the bedrooms. They demanded money. Ja’Donte scuffled with one of the gunmen and was shot. Another resident, Joseph Patton (Ja’Donte’s stepfather), 41, was pistol-whipped by one of the gunmen. The two fled the residence without taking anything.

The gunmen are described as being in their late 20s to 30s. One of them, who wore a red beanie hat and a red jacket, smelled of alcohol and had the appearance of being intoxicated, according to the victims. The other gunman was masked and wore all black clothing.

Community members are asked to take note of the red beanie hat and red jacket clothing description of the one gunman. Anyone knowing who he might be is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463. Callers to Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and qualify for a cash reward. Persons can also send an electronic tip by texting the word “CASH” along with the message to 274637(CRIMES), or online at www.nashvillecrimestoppers.com.
