Nashville Teen Shoots Man Who Asked For Cigarette, Police Say

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Midtown Hills Precinct detectives have charged 17-year-old Cornelius Reed with especially aggravated robbery for shooting a 20-year-old man in the 1200 block of 12th Avenue South in Edgehill Homes Tuesday evening.

The victim reported that he approached a group of persons standing near the front porch of an apartment to ask for a cigarette. He said one of those individuals demanded his belongings and then shot him in the leg. Detectives were able to match a nickname they had been given to Cornelius Reed. The victim later identified Reed from a photo lineup.

Reed, of Bellevue Road, was booked at juvenile detention following his arrest in the downtown area.
