Oneonta, NY — On February 4, 2016, at about 6:01 a.m., New York State Police at Oneonta responded to an Otsego County 911 request to assist with a traumatic injury accident outside of Stericycle, a commercial business, located at 31 Lower River Street in the Town of Oneonta, Otsego County, NY.
An investigation determined that employee John H. Murphy, 68, of Oneonta, NY had attempted to walk between a tractor trailer and a loading dock, unaware that the vehicle was backing up, and was fatally struck.
Oneonta Fire Department assisted at the scene. Otsego County Coroner Terry Knapp advised the cause of death was severe trauma.
The investigation is ongoing but no charges are expected to be filed.
