New York State employee arrested after ‘putting chemical’ in co-worker’s drink

ALBANY, N.Y. — A New York State worker is accused of pouring a “cleaning solution” into his co-worker’s drink

On Tuesday, the New York State Police arrested 33-year-old Raymond P. Pounds of Albany, NY, on three counts of Attempted Assault, and three counts of Criminal Tampering.

Pounds is accused of pouring a cleaning solution into the water bottle of a co-worker at the NYS Office of General Services on multiple occasions, police say.

The incidents were discovered when the victim noticed that their water bottle had been tampered with and the water it contained had an abnormal taste. The victim notified his supervisor who reported the incident to State Police.

The victim did not seek medical treatment.

Pounds was issued an appearance ticket for Albany City Court on June 28, 2021 at 9:00 a.m.
