Nigel Farage has arrived at Trump Tower amid rumours he will be the first British politician to meet the President-elect since his victory.

“We’re just tourists,” he told journalists, before being ushered into an elevator.

The interim UKIP leader’s camp has refused to comment on whether the two will meet.

A statement by the party said the pair discussed global politics, Brexit, and the bust of Sir Winston Churchill.

Mr Farage said: “It was a great honour to spend time with Donald Trump. He was relaxed, and full of good ideas.

“I’m confident he will be a good President. His support for the U.S.-UK relationship is very strong. This is a man with whom we can do business.”

His visit to New York comes as thousands hit the streets in New York City to protest the Republican’s victory.

“He understands and recognises what our two great nations have done together between us. And thank goodness we’re coming to the end of an American president who loathed us,” Mr Farage told Fox News.

Mr Farage was far from the only visitor to Trump Towers – also spotted in the lobby was filmmaker Michael Moore.
