Eight police officers have been killed by gunfire since the beginning on 2016.

Over five police officers have died this week alone.

During January 1st to February 12th, only one officer was shot dead during 2015.

Many of the deaths in the first six weeks of 2015 were traffic related incidents.

Case County Sheriff Paul Laney released a statement saying: ‘People are hunting us. How do you think that sits with us?

‘But yet we wear this badge with honor and pride and we’re going to go out every day and protect our communities.’

On Thursday this week, Major Greg Barney of Georgia, was carrying out a no knock warrant.
