NYC landlord stabs tenant to death over rent

NEW YORK — A Bronx landlord has been arrested for allegedly stabbing his tenant to death over rent payments.

On Wednesday, police responded to a 911 call of a person stabbed in front of 1001 Logan Avenue in the Bronx.

When Officers arrived, they found 44-year-old Zakir Khan with multiple stab wounds to the torso unconscious and unresponsive. EMS responded to the scene and transported the victim to Jacobi Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased. Khan’s 12-year-old son witnessed the crime.

51-year-old Taha Mahran was taken in custody. Police say Mahran was angry the victim had not paid rent in ten months.

Khan was a real estate broker, according to AM-NY.
