NYPD Cop Shoots at Group Holding Fake Guns In Queens Stairwell

NEW YORK — On Wednesday, February 15, 2017, at 7:43 p.m., police responded to a call regarding individuals fighting and using narcotics inside 106-35 159 Street within the confines of Police Service Area 9. Upon arrival, officers encountered three males, two who were holding firearms inside a second floor stair well.

The officers drew their firearms and instructed the males not to move. At that time, at least one of the males turned towards the officers while still holding a firearm. An officer then fired one round, striking no one. One of the males was taken into custody at the scene while the two remain outstanding.

Two imitation firearms were also recovered. The investigation remains ongoing into the identity and location of the two other outstanding suspects.
