“Getting illegal guns off the street is always the goal,” said Police Officer Bory Echanique of the 43rd Precinct Anti-crime Team. “But doing so on this occasion without getting anyone hurt is a win for everyone.”

On Thursday February 2, police officers in the Bronx recovered a modified high-powered handgun with a scope and a second firearm as the result of traffic enforcement. Members of the 43rd Precinct Anti-crime Team stopped a vehicle at the intersection of Bruckner Boulevard and Close Avenue for running a red light. One of the two firearms was a modified with a scope, a fore grip, a rear stock, and an extended 30-round magazine. The three occupants of the vehicle were placed under arrest.
