NEW YORK — (NYPD News) — Two NYPD Police Officers from the 113 Precinct in Queens worked with FDNY members to help save a woman from a burning house Monday. Police Officer Greg Levine and Police Officer Rob Quattrock arrived prior to FDNY and immediately entered the smoking and burning building looking for a woman. When FDNY arrived shortly after, the group of first responders worked collaboratively to get the woman out.

“We showed up on the scene and the house was smoking and people were yelling that there was someone still inside. We did what we had to do- we didn’t even think about it.

We kicked the door down and went in looking for the woman. Every seconded counted. There was no way we were going to wait,” said Police Officer Greg Levine.

Police Rob Quattrock added,

“Our response was pure instinct. We just did it. It’s what a person is suppose to do – help another person. It’s just what we do.”

When asked what it felt like after they brought the woman out of the house and seeing she was alert, he added,

“It was euphoric. We were able to save her and now she was alive.”

(Via FDNY on Instagram)- “As I was getting off the rig, I heard people yelling, ‘There’s someone in there! Help! Someone is inside!’ When I got to the front door, I saw there were two @nypd Officers already on scene. The front door was open and they were reaching in to grab her. The fire was blowing at a rapid rate and I saw that they had short sleeves on. They were putting themselves in great jeopardy to save the patient. Because I had my bunker gear on, I was able to go in, grab her, and give the final pull through the front door. Working together, we were able to get her out. We all carried her down the front steps,” says #FDNYLieutenant Gregory Damato,#Engine302, who rescued a patient, alongside NYPD Officers Rob Quattrock and Greg Levine, from a 2-alarm fire today at 140-36 169 St in #Queens.

FDNY EMS members from #Station54took over patient care, and transported the patient to a local hospital in serious condition. FDNY Chief of Department James E. Leonard says, “This is what#NYPD, Firefighters, EMTs and Paramedics do every day. They work together to protect life and property, and today was a fine example of that teamwork. They worked together to save a life.”
