BROOKLYN — On Monday morning, around 10:00 a.m., NYPD officer responded to a 911 call for a vehicle collision with injuries in front of 1748 West 7th in Brooklyn.

Responding officers found 52-year-old Lin, Zheng, Xin unconscious and unresponsive with head trauma.

EMS arrived and transported the individual to Coney Island Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Police say Xin was operating a 2004 Toyota Mini-van in reverse while partially outside the vehicle when he struck a tree.

The New York Daily News reported: [Xin] got out of the van thinking it was in park while it was still in reverse, an NYPD spokesman said. The van rolled backward and Lin, who worked at a 99 cent store around the corner on Kings Highway, got pinned between the vehicle’s door and a tree, officials and witnesses said.

There were no other vehicles involved or injuries reported.

An investigation is being conducted by NYPD’s Collision Investigation Squad.
