NYPD: Suspect attacked taxi driver in Bronx and stole his turban

The New York City Police Department is asking the public’s assistance identifying the individual seen in a surveillance photo in regards to a robbery that occurred within the confines of the Bronx.

It was reported to the police that on Sunday, April 16, 2017 at 0515 hours, the victim, a 24-year-old male yellow taxi cab driver, got into a dispute with individual, who was his passenger, while dropping him off at the corner of Jerome Avenue and 165 Street. The individual punched the victim in the arm and removed the turban from his head. During the incident the individual also made ethnic slurs towards the victim. The individual fled on foot on Jerome Avenue heading towards 164 Street. The victim was not seriously injured and refused medical attention at the scene. The investigation is ongoing by the NYPD’s Hate Crimes Task Force.

The individual is described as a male Hispanic, approximately 20-30 years old, 5’9″ tall, 160 pounds, with a light complexion and clean shaven. He was last seen wearing a tan jacket with blue denim jeans and red sneakers.
