Suspect Dead After Pulling Gun on NYPD Police Sergeant; 2nd Suspect At Large

NEW YORK CITY — An alleged burglary suspect has died following an officer involved shooting in Gravesend, Brooklyn on Monday – a second suspect was on the run.

The scene was at 78th Street.

From WNBC: “[When police arrived] The suspect went down a fire escape to the backyard below, and that’s when he encountered a police sergeant and another cop outside. The suspect pointed his gun at the sergeant within arm’s length, and as the sergeant went to knock the gun away, both the sergeant and the other officer fired their guns.”

The suspect was transported to a hospital where he later died.

No Officers were injured.

Witnesses told police a second suspect fled the scene.

The suspect at-large is described as a black male in his 30’s, heavy-set, last seen possibly wearing a construction-type helmet.

NYPD is actively investigating and looking for the second suspect.
