Incomprehensible Location of Recovered Firearm Leaves Officers Stunned

BOSTON — At about 11:50 AM, on Saturday, February 20, 2016, members of the District C-11 (Dorchester) Neighborhood Drug Control Unit executed a search warrant in the area of 193 Norfolk Street. As a result of the search, officers were stunned and astounded upon seeing and recovering a loaded black semi-automatic firearm (see photo) found resting in a child’s bassinet.

In addition to the firearm, officers recovered multiple plastic bags containing heroin and cocaine and seized nearly $1,000 in US currency. The target of the investigation, 33-year-old Pedro Valdez of Dorchester, was arrested and charged with Trafficking Class A Drugs, Trafficking Class B Drugs, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Unlawful Possession of a High Capacity Feeding Device and Possession of a Firearm with Obliterated Serial Number.

27-year-old Lasonia Gathers of Dorchester was also arrested and charged with the above referenced offenses.
