A bear that strolled into a pizza parlor in Colorado Springs was removed from the store before she could get her pie.
Colorado Springs Police Department spokeswoman, Catherine Buckley, has said a school resource officer at Palmer High School was told there was a bear near the school on Monday, and went to check it out.
Whilst looking for the bear, the officer, Blanca Caro, was stopped by employees at Louie’s Pizza about a bear in their store nearby.
‘I started heading west on Boulder and that’s when I got flagged down by an employee at Louie’s Pizza,’ she said.
The bear fell asleep in the back of the store on a rack of boxes and was tranquilized before she could get a pizza.
‘(The Parks & Wildlife officer) went back to that corner, woke her up and then tranquilized her,’ Caro said.
Whether or not bear sightings are on this rise is unclear, however Matt Robbins, a spokesman with Parks & Wildlife, told Colorado Springs Gazette the sightings have been reported more frequently in recent months.
