Plane Crash Lands on Crowded Calif. Beach

CALIFORNIA — (Scroll Down For Video) — Banner-towing plane crashes on packed California beach and leaves 2 injured on the 4th of July.

The FAA says the single-engine Piper PA18 lost engine power.

Police initially released this statement on Facebook: “This afternoon, a single engine plane crashed on the beach between the power plant and Tamarack Avenue. The pilot was uninjured in the crash, but a bystander on the beach was transported to the hospital with injuries.

The plane is still on the beach and Carlsbad Fire and Police departments have evacuated the immediate area and are coordinating with local agencies and hazardous materials team on the removal of the plane from the beach. Carlsbad Boulevard remains open to traffic.”
