Police identify men fatally shot in an apparent murder-suicide in Virginia

NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) – Norfolk police have identified the two men involved in a double fatal shooting on Northampton Boulevard Tuesday evening.

Around 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, police responded to the 6000 block of Northampton Boulevard for a gunshot disturbance. When police arrived, they located two abandoned vehicles in the eastbound lanes of Northampton. Not far from the vehicles, police located two men nearby suffering from gunshot wounds. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

Police confirmed the men were known to each other and detectives have classified the incident as a murder-suicide.

The preliminary investigation has revealed that both men were driving their vehicles in the 6000 block of Northampton Blvd when the vehicles struck each other. After the vehicles came to a stop, Dwight Walker Jr. (27) of the 2400 block of Locks Landing in Chesapeake exited his vehicle and shot Shaquille T. Turner (25) of the 1000 block of Commonwealth Place in Virginia Beach. Walker then turned the gun on himself, causing an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
