WISCONSIN — The Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office is warning animal owners to be vigilant after they say a pregnant horse was sexually assaulted on Sunday.

According to a TMJ4, a New London resident reported that his five-year-old pregnant mare had been “maliciously vandalized.” The resident had gone out into the pasture because his horses were behaving as if they were spooked. That’s where he found the mare, injured and bleeding.

“I think that an instrument, some sort of hobbling device, was used on the horse,” Waupaca County Sheriff Brad Hardel told Fox News. “It is disturbing, for sure.”

A veterinarian confirms the wounded animal was assaulted.

Jared Kreft, shown in the photo, was arrested a year ago for allegedly having sex with a horse, but says he knows nothing about Sunday’s incident.
