Austin Police officers responded to the report an attempted kidnapping.

On Tuesday, at 12:36 p.m., Portland Police officers responded to the report of two men with guns walking southbound on Northeast 33rd Avenue from Knott Street towards Grant High School.

Officers arrived in the area and learned additional information that the two men, both white males in their teens or early-20s, were carrying what appeared to be semi-automatic rifles slung across their chests.

Several officers canvassed the area as area schools, including Grant High School and both Beverly Cleary Schools went into lockdown.

Neither suspect was located, no reports of any actual threats and no determination if the guns were real.

The suspects were described as white males in their late teens or early-20s, 5’8″ tall, and medium builds. One was described as having brown hair, wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans.

The other was described as wearing a dark jacket and blue jeans. One of the suspects was described as carrying a green military bag around his chest in addition to the semi-automatic rifle.

All schools resumed normal operation after police checked the neighborhood.
