Police Search For Arizona Man Who Killed His Ex-Girlfriend’s New Boyfriend

Pima County, AZ — NEWS RELEASE: On Monday, January 9, 2017, just before 3:00 a.m., San Xavier District deputies responded to the 2800 block of South Shiela Avenue for a report of a robbery. When deputies arrived, they learned that two victims had been stabbed, and one suspect had fled the scene.

One male victim was immediately transported to the hospital with multiple stab wounds, and was pronounced deceased by hospital staff upon his arrival. His girlfriend suffered minor injuries and was also transported to the hospital.

Homicide detectives responded to the scene and took over the investigation. After interviewing witnesses, detectives learned the female victim’s ex-boyfriend, 32-year-old James Murray Reaves, was the suspect who fled the scene. It was discovered that Mr. Reaves came over to the residence early in the morning, and a physical altercation ensued between Mr. Reaves and the male victim. Mr. Reaves allegedly presented a knife and proceeded to stab the male victim multiple times during the fight. After the incident, Mr. Reaves fled to a nearby Circle K where he was picked up by someone driving a white pickup truck.

This investigation is still ongoing. Detectives are asking for the public’s assistance in locating James Murray Reaves. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call 9-1-1.
