The following was posted by an Instagram user who happened to catch an NYPD police officer in action:
“A pretty cool story worth sharing. Man with apparent autism was acting up on the subway. The conductor called for police and the responding officer read and recognized the situation perfectly and handled it with nothing but class.
He was kind and was able to help calm this man down and rode the subway with him making him (and the other passengers) feel at ease. It’s not the best photo but sadly a story such as this doesn’t make the rounds it should. #NYPD”
“We appreciate the subway rider sharing this story with us,” the NYPD posted on it’s website. “The NYPD is increasing our training for officers to be able to effectively help people in crisis similar to this situation.”
