MISSISSIPPI — **UPDATE**  Police say they have spoken to the man wanted for two murders in Mississippi Monday.

Delta State Professor and gunman, Shannon Lamb, told police he is “not going to jail.”

According to the AP, They would not say when or how they spoke to Lamb.

**UPDATE** Police believe that a woman killed this morning in Gautier, Miss. was killed by the same man who later gunned down a professor at Delta State University.

The slain woman has been identified as Amy Prentiss. MHP says they believe Lamb is driving a black Dodge Avenger with Mississippi tag # STF 015.

From WLOX: Gautier police spokesman Capt. Jerry Cooksey identified the suspect as 45-year-old Shannon Lamb. According to the DSU website, Lamb is a social science professor at the university.

Detective Matt Hoggatt said Lamb was last seen driving a green SUV. Hoggatt also confirmed a vehicle matching that description was found on the DSU campus Monday morning.

Cooksey said detectives believe Lamb shot and killed a woman he was romantically involved with at a home on Santa Cruz Street. Cooksey said Lamb called police around 10:20 a.m. Monday and reported the murder.

Earlier Report: One person is dead and a gunman remains wanted after a shooting at Delta State University in Cleveland, Mississippi.

Delta State University was on lockdown Monday afternoon and an active shooter alert was posted.

The gunman was spotted on campus near Jobe Hall. The shooter may still be on campus as police were seen surrounding one building.

A professor was shot and killed inside of his office, the Coroner said.

The victim was identified as Ethan A. Schmidt, an Assistant Professor of American History.

According to WLBT, Schmidt completed his Ph.D. at the University of Kansas in 2007. Before coming to Delta State, Schmidt taught for six years at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, TX .

Streets in the area have been closed off, and there are ambulances on campus.

One confirmed suspect is still on the loose, and officers of the Washington County Police Department have arrived at the scene.

The ATF was also on scene.
