A New York City police officer is hospitalized after being beaten unconscious in Queens. Police say the attack on off-duty Sgt. Mohammed Deen occurred early Sunday as he wife watched helplessly from their car. It happened outside St. John’s Express restaurant in Ozone Park after the two men got into a dispute.

When the officer fell to the ground, police say the suspect struck Deen with his fists and then punched him repeatedly.

The suspect, 29-year-old Hayden Holder of Queens, was arrested and charged with felony assault.

Police say Deen is in critical but stable condition.
