SEATTLE — Officers chased a man to a home Friday afternoon after he rammed a police car while driving away from a shoplift in Mount Baker.
Employees of a grocery store in the 3800 block of Rainier Ave. S. called 911 just after 2 pm today when a man ran from the store without purchasing the four cases of Redbull he was carrying.
The 44-year-old suspect hopped in a waiting car and sped off when he was spotted by a responding officer.
The suspect rammed the police car with his vehicle as he drove away. Officers tailed the suspect until he jumped out of the car and hurdled a fence in the 4600 block of S. Othello St before ducking into a nearby home. Officers contained the man in the house while the SWAT team responded.
SWAT arrived and were able to take the suspect into custody without further incident.
