NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The family of Joe Crockett Shelton Jr. has increased the reward to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction in adult court of the person or persons responsible for his death if the concrete chunk that went through his windshield on the morning of November 20 was part of a criminal act.

Central Precinct detectives and fatal crash officers have not definitively determined how the 23-pound piece of concrete impacted Shelton’s windshield as he traveled on I-24 east. While it is possible the concrete chunk was thrown from the Shelby Avenue Bridge, the police department has not identified anyone to this point who saw that happen.

Anyone with information that leads to the identification and conviction of a person or persons responsible for Shelton’s death is eligible for the $10,000 reward posted by the family by calling Nashville Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463. Crime Stoppers is also offering an additional reward of up to $1,000.

A reward fundraiser for the Shelton family, sponsored by Streetside Classics, will be held this Saturday from 1 p.m.-5 p.m. at 6000 Reliance Drive in LaVergne.
