Birmingham, ALABAMA — Just after 11:00 am Thursday, deputies were called to a residence in the 400 block of Argonne Drive in Center Point to investigate a report of a burglary in progress. The elderly female victim reported that she had been home alone and heard a noise downstairs.

As she descended the stairs she saw a young man coming up them. When the man saw her he fled the residence. Once on the scene deputies discovered that the back door to the residence had been forced open.

A description of the suspect was broadcast to other deputies in the area.

A male matching the description was located walking a few blocks away from the home. Deputies identified him as
the man who had broken into the home.

41 year old Brian Key of Center Point, told deputies he had been in a nearby creek trying to catch snakes and
tadpoles. He did not have anything to catch them with or carry them in.

Key was arrested and charged with Burglary 2nd Degree and transported to the Jefferson County Jail in Birmingham
where he was held on $60,000.
