RT Journalist Attacked By Knife-Wielding Migrant Gang In Calais

A Russia Today journalist was attacked today by a gang of knife-wielding migrants in Calais.

Robert Edwards reported that he was approached by a group of teenagers who went through his pockets.

He was then pinned against a wall and a knife was held to him, one of the migrants then began to slash at his jacket while putting a napkin in his mouth in an attempt to keep him quiet.

Rob managed to break free and discovered they weren’t able to take anything frm him.

He ran to the entrance, finding refugee near camp volunteers.

RT reports that there was no police assistance during the attack, but volunteers were witness to the incident.

Edward’s reported that the situation is rapidly becoming more tense in the Calais camp.

This isn’t the first time a reporter has been attacked, on the 20th January a Dutch reporter was attacked and the incident was captured on camera.

Photojournalist Teun Voeten, who has been making a documentary in the ‘Jungle’ and ended up becoming a target of violence himself.
