NEW YORK: School Bus Driver Killed In Head-on Collision

New York State Police in Middletown are investigating a commercial vehicle versus school bus fatal collision that occurred on May 29, 2015 at 8:04 AM on ST-211 in the Town of Wallkill.

The First Student School Bus was travelling eastbound on St-211 when a 2007 International Harvester, owned by Donato Marangi Inc, operated by Cesar J. Leon-Sanchez, age 21 of Goshen, NY, was travelling westbound and drifted into the eastbound lane causing the head-on collision. The driver of the school bus, Raymond P. Lucca Sr., age 69, of Walden, NY, was pronounced dead at scene by the Orange County Medical Examiners Office.

There were no students on the bus at the time of the collision.

Mr. Leon-Sanchez was airlifted to the Westchester Medical Center.

State Police were assisted by Town of Wallkill Police Department, Montgomery Fire Department, Mechanicstown Fire Department and the NYS Department of Transportation.

ST-211 has been closed since the time of the collision and remains closed as the State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit and Collision Reconstruction Unit continue their investigation. Charges are pending.⁠⁠⁠
