ORANGE COUNTY, Florida — 18-year-old Kency Synsmir was last seen on Saturday at 4:45 p.m. at his Pine Hills home at 4801 Robbins Ave in Orlando.

Officials have suspended a massive search for the man after finding a body in a retention pond near his home.

The mute, autistic man has the mental capacity of a toddler, his family told investigators.

“Kency and his sister, who is 12, were playing in the backyard which is what they usually do. So the sister came in, the mom continued to clean and all of the sudden they realize that Kency was gone,” said Jane Watrel, spokesperson for the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.

He left on foot wearing a blue t-shirt and blue jeans.

There was concern for his well being because of his autism and he is mute. Anyone with information is asked to call 407-836-4357 (HELP).

An autopsy is scheduled. No further details were available.
