Second suspect arrested in slaying of 16-year-old girl at Nashville housing complex

NASHVILLE, TN — East Precinct detectives have charged a second teen for the October 8th fatal shooting of 16-year-old Deberianah Begley in the 700 block of South 8th Street in the James Cayce public housing development. Sixteen-year-old Jamarius Hill of Glade Street is charged at Juvenile Court with criminal homicide and is being held in detention.

Hill is alleged to have been in a group of young men when he fired toward another group in a public housing courtyard. Begley, who was sitting on a porch, was fatally hit when she attempted to run for cover.

Investigation by Detective Matt Griffin and his colleagues led to the identification of Hill as a suspect.

Antonio Gordon-Jenkins, 17, was arrested and charged at Juvenile Court with criminal homicide in this case on October 19th.

The investigation continues.
