Shocking aerial photographs reveal the huge expansion of the Calais migrant camp, now home to over 7,000 migrants.

During the summer of 2015, the Calais camp was home to around 3,000 people attempting to reach the UK.

Now its population has reached over 7,000, with sanitary levels at a dangerous rate.

The camp has slowly edged closer to land near homes on the Calais shoreline as migrants demand more space from French officials.

French officials now fear the settlement will grow to unprecedented levels due to a thousands of Syrian migrants crossing the Turkish border.

Many of the migrants make attempts to enter England by jumping on moving trains and entering the Eurotunnel.

Security in the surrounding area has been drastically increased as a result of violent attacks on coaches, trucks and cars.

Migrants were forced to move earlier in January after french officials moved in to demolish part of the camp.

French authorities have constructed cabins for migrants to sleep in that have heating, water, bedding and other facilities.

Many of the migrants refuse to use the shelter provided by the French government.
