NEW YORK — (Scroll down for video) — What looked like smoke from a fire atop New York City’s 1 World Trade Center caused panic throughout the city on Tuesday evening.
The event was actually steam from the air conditioning system, officials said. “We can confirm that there is no fire to report at the WTC,” the FDNY tweeted.
The NYPD also confirmed the reported “smoke” was not a fire emergency. Some social media users still weren’t so sure.
I’m looking at One World Trade Center from my roof in Brooklyn and I CAN’T say definitively there is a fire. pic.twitter.com/HhM9n5AsZd
