LAS VEGAS — At approximately 9:03 a.m. on June 30, 2015 LVMPD patrol officers were dispatched to a residence located in the 3800 block of King Palm Avenue to investigate a report of a shooting.

Arriving officers located several family members who advised an adult male and an adult female broke into the home and were shot by one of the residents.

The suspects fled the scene before officers’ arrival. A short time later, officers were told that a male and a female suffering gunshot wounds had arrived at North Vista Hospital.

The male died upon arrival at the hospital, and the female was taken to the UMC Trauma Center to undergo treatment. It was quickly established these were the suspects from the incident on King Palm Avenue.

The preliminary investigation initiated by the LVMPD Homicide Section indicated several family members were in the residence when the female suspect knocked on the front door and asked for use of a phone. As the resident attempted to close the door to retrieve a phone, the female pushed her way inside and grabbed hold of a juvenile.

The man rushed in and walked back to the eldest son’s bedroom and kicked in the door, according to the report. The man fired a shot at the son, who was sleeping. The son grabbed his own handgun and returned fire, wounding the man. The intruder ran down the hall, and the son fired again. The intruder dropped his gun and ran out of the house.

The resident also fired at the female suspect who was in a physical altercation with other family members.

Both suspects then exited the residence, got into a gold 4-door car that was parked in front of the house. The son retrieved his AK-47 and shot out a tire on the car in an effort to keep the pair from fleeing.

The two suspects drove away. None of the family members suffered serious injuries.
