Suspect Arrested After Georgia Deputy Shot In The Face During Traffic Stop

WATCH: (Scroll Down For Video) A suspect has been arrested after he turned himself into police after a sheriff’s deputy was shot in the face during a traffic stop in Atlanta.

Joe Lee Garrett, aged 24, turned himself in to a police investigator.

Garrett is charged with aggravated assault of a police officer, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and eluding arrest.

Officials confirmed that Garrett turned himself in to the Phenix City Police in Alabama and was taken to the Russell County jail.

Police have also arrested Lytishia Horace in connection with the shooting.

Horace will now be extradited to Georgia.

Police are still actively searching for the other woman.

Witnesses stopped to help the injured deputy, and the incident was captured on dashboard camera.

The shooting happened after police said three people were inside a 1944 blue Chevrolet Caprice, when they were stopped by the deputy.

Garrett then pulled out a firearm and shot the deputy above the left eye.

After the deputy was shot, Garrett got his licence back and drove away.
