A suspect has now been arrested in the gang-related shooting death of 9-year-old Tyshawn Lee from Chicago.

A press release announced that on early Friday morning a suspect was arrested and further said that further details would be revealed during a press conference later in the morning.

WGN reports that the person who was arrested was Corey Morgan, a 27-year-old man who was arrested earlier this month and questioned as a person of interest in the murder that has sparked outrage on the city’s South Side.

Morgan and another man were arrested last week and taken into questioning for Tyshawn’s death.

Police attempted to keep Morgan locked up while they continued investigating Tyshawn’s murder, but charging his with felony possession of a handgun.

But Morgan was released November 18 after posting $100,000 of his $1million bond. He was last in court on Monday for a hearing.

Tyshawn’s death came after a series of gang-related shootings in the neighborhood, one of which claimed the life of Morgan’s brother, 25-year-old Tracy Morgan.

Tracy Morgan and Stokes were in rival street gangs, the Black P Stones and the Gangster Disciples, according to police. But the boy’s father has denied doing anything to provoke Tyshawn’s murder.

An autopsy report that was released last week showed the fourth-grader was struck in the temple, likely from a close range, and his right thumb was partially severed, reported Chicago Sun-Times.
