The FBI h as now joined the investigation into the machete-wielding man who entered an Ohio restaurant and attacked customers.

Police confirmed that four people sustained injuries in the attack at Nazareth Restaurant and Deli.

The suspected attacker has been identified as Mohamed Barry, aged 30, and was shot dead by police.

Columbus police Sergeant Rich Weiner said: ‘There was no rhyme or reason as to who he was going after.’

Weiner went on to say: ‘Some of the patrons there started throwing chairs at him just trying to get him out of there,’

Investigators are now tracing down leads to determine if the attacker was linked to any terrorist organizations.

The suspected attack has a Somali background, it is believed he traveled to Dubai in 2012.

Law enforcement officials have raised concerns that this incident has the hallmarks of the type of so-called ‘lone wolf’ terrorist attack that they have been working to stop.

The man then ran out and led police on a short chase.

‘At that point he had a machete and another knife in his hand and he lunged across the hood at the officers.’

‘Right now there’s nothing that leads us to believe that this is anything but a random attack,’ added Weiner.

A police officer then shot and killed the man.
