Suspect in kidnapping, shooting caught in New Orleans; girlfriend still on the run

JOHNSON CITY, Tennessee – A man who was added to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation’s Top 10 Most Wanted list in June is now in custody, after being arrested in Louisiana.

Jarret Cole Heitmann had been wanted by the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation to face a number of charges, including Attempted Second Degree Murder and Especially Aggravated Robbery, in connection to a shooting incident that occurred on June 20th in Kingsport. Additionally, he is also facing charges of Aggravated Kidnapping out of Hawkins County. Heitmann’s girlfriend, Makayla Stilwell, is also wanted in connection to this case. She has not yet been located.

On Thursday morning, Heitmann was arrested by officers with the New Orleans Police Department as a result of a shoplifting incident that occurred at a business on North Carrollton Avenue. He is currently being held in the Orleans Parish Jail in Louisiana.
