MANHATTAN — The New York City Police Department has arrested the suspect wanted for rape within the confines of the 7th Precinct.
On Wednesday, November 25, 2015, at approximately 7:30 p.m., a 26-year-old female victim was jogging in East River Park, in the vicinity of Cherry Street when the suspect, on a bicycle, approached her and motioned for her to be quiet.
The victim turned around and started to run in the opposite direction when the suspect grabbed her hair, put his arm around her throat and pulled her into the amphitheater area where he raped her. The suspect fled the scene thereafter.
The victim was removed to Beth Israel Hospital where she was treated and released.
The suspect, Paul Niles, 28, turned himself in.
Video surveillance still photos are of the suspect using the victim’s credit card in a deli.
