DALLAS, Texas — On June 28, 2015, at about 7:30 am, Homicide Detectives responded to a deceased person call at 2843 W. Brooklyn Avenue.
A citizen jogging in the area called 9-1-1 to report finding the victim, a young male, deceased by homicidal means in the alley.
The male was wearing silver athletic shorts with a black strip down the sides, a black T- shirt with Bob Marley on the front and black and white Nike shoes.
The victim has since been identified as 15-year-old Joe Martinez.
The young man suffered “obvious signs of trauma,” police said. Reports indicate a gunshot wound to the head.
Martinez was the oldest of three brothers and was a freshman at Sunset High School.

There is no suspect information at this time. Next of Kin notification has not been made. This investigation is ongoing.
