EL PASO, TEXAS — A 16 year old girl died after she was ejected from the Sizzler amusement ride at a carnival being held at St. Thomas Aquinas Church on Friday.
16-year old Samantha Aguilar along with two other girls were riding the Sizzler ride when she and a 17 year old girl were flung from the ride.
Both teenagers were transported to area hospitals.
Tragically, Samantha Aguilar died of her injuries shortly after arrival at the hospital.
The 17 year old sustained non-life threatening injuries and the third rider also 17 years old who was not ejected was uninjured.
The Sizzler ride is equipped with seat belts and lap bars. As part of the investigation detectives are looking into whether the safety equipment was utilized, functioning properly and regulations were met by the ride operator and vendor.
