Terror Alert On Plane From Ireland To Britain After Man Claims Passenger Was Armed

A man sparked a terror alert on an Aer Lingus flight after claiming a passenger was on board armed with a combat knife.

The passenger was ejected from the flight after passing a note to cabin crew moments before take-off.

Counter-terror police surrounded the flight at Dublin Airport after scared crew alerted them.

Anti-terror police, dressed in SWAT-style uniforms,  stormed the plane and detained the man.

A police spokesperson said: ‘A male passenger aged in his 20s was removed from the plane by Gardai and detained under the Mental Health Act, he has since been admitted to hospital.

‘The flight proceeded to on its planned journey a short time later. There was no one injured during the incident.’

An Aer Lingus spokesperson confirmed there was a security incident but refused to comment further.

The flight to Edinburgh was delayed for about an hour as the man was detained and taken to hospital.
