Two women have been banned from the Tinder app after sending campaign messages to prospective matches.

The two women, one from New Jersey and the other from Iowa, received notices from Tinder that their accounts were locked because they were peppering men on the sites promoting the Bernie Sanders campaign.

Robyn Gedrich, aged 23, said she sent messages to over 60 people in an attempt to convince them to support the Sanders campaign against Hillary Clinton.

Her messages read: ‘Do you feel the bern?’ her message to other Tinder users read, echoing the Sanders campaign slogan. ‘Please text WORK to 82623 for me. Thanks.’

She reported to local media: ‘I would ask them if they were going to vote in their upcoming primaries,’ she said. ‘If they said no or were on the fence, I would try to talk to them and persuade them to vote.’

Many of the messages the pair sent would include a link with a sign-up page for volunteering.

Many of the replies to Gedrich read: ‘Trump 2016’ and ‘Trump for president.’

Both now say their Tinder accounts have been locked after people reported them for their use of the application.
