MIAMI — On March 29, 2016, at approximately 4:30 A.M., Miami Police attempted to stop a stolen motorcycle west of the San Juan Motel at Southwest 24th Avenue between Southwest 8th and 9th Streets. The cyclist bailed out, and left the motorcycle at the motel parking lot, located at 835 Southwest 24th Avenue.

A perimeter was established, but the suspect was not apprehended at that time. Miami Police then searched the area around the Motel, and questioned a female who was known to be staying in one of the rooms. They asked her if she had seen the suspect that fled.

They walked her back to the room, and asked permission to search the room for the suspect. Once inside of the room, they found suspected cocaine, marijuana, and paraphernalia. They also saw a two (2) year old boy sleeping alone in the room. The narcotics were in arms reach of the two (2) year old child which could have caused severe harm to him had he ingested any of it.

The Department of Children and Family services was alerted of the situation, and they in turn, responded to the location, and took custody of the child. The mother of the child, who has been identified as Maidolys Oduardo Paneque, D.O.B. 07/11/1990, was arrested and charged with the following: 1 count of Child Abuse/Neglect which is a third degree felony.
