Florida police are now on the hunt for two semi-truck trailers that are filled with over 1,000 Christmas trees.

A thief has managed to make off with $18,000 in trees after he or she allegedly swiped the 53-foot semi-truck trailers parked outside of the Kendall Costco megastore on Tuesday night..

The Miami-Herald reported that Florida Beauty, a refrigerated floral truck delivery service, dropped of the two trailers on Tuesday afternoon. The trailers are valued at $78,000.

The trailers, each of which were holding 500 trees, were stolen sometime between 8 p.m. and midnight.

‘They were brand new — 2015,’ said Frank Ducassi, vice president of sales for Florida Beauty.

Kendall Costco is known for their Christmas tree sales and the trees are sold straight out of the trailer for $30 each.

Ducassi says he’s ‘almost certain’ the trailers weren’t properly secured.

Costco usually puts a pin lock on trailers which prevents semi-trucks from being able to ride off with the trailer.

The general manager of the store said he was merely instructed to lock the trailer doors.

The Christmas trees are supplied from a company in North Carolina called Happy Holiday Christmas Trees.

Ducassi said customers can still buy trees from the store and noted that there was a shipment on the way.
