**UPDATE: All-clear given, operations return to normal**

HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. — Around 9 a.m., during a routine vehicle inspection, Security Forces detected “some potentially explosive material, which caused the base to put response actions in place,” officials said.

Those actions included a closure of the base’s Vandenberg (Rte 2A) Gate and evacuation of several nearby base facilities.

There are no injuries, and responders are investigating the situation at this time.

Explosive materials experts are on the scene, and until the situation has been fully resolved, the base will continue to take all necessary precautions.
