Two police officers were killed after a car bomb went off in the Turkish town of Nusaybin.

A rocket attack and car bomb has killed two police officers and wounded at 35 people in south-east Turkey.

The attack was carried out by the Kurdistan Workers party in the town of Nusaybin.

This comes a day after two females were shot dead after launching an attack on police officers with grenades and a machine gun.

The pair targeted a riot police bus with a machine gun and launched explosives towards it as it drove into a police station.

Police officers then returned fire, before tracing them to a government building.

Residents in the nearby area were evacuated as specialized police prepared to capture them.

Officers then raided the building and shot the pair dead after they failed to surrender.

Two police officers were wounded, one by broken glass and the other during the raid on the building.

Istanbul Governor Vahip Sahin said police were trying to identify the attackers and any accomplices.

Last month Turkish officials blamed the PKK for helping Syrian Kurdish YPG militia carry out a suicide car bombing in Ankara that killed at least 28 people.
