Turkey is now ready to accept over 35,000 Syrian migrants after political leaders put pressure on the country to open their borders.
Turkish officials have confirmed that over 35,000 Syrian migrants have assembled along their border, which currently remains closed.
Today the Turkish President said the country will open their borders if necessary.
‘If they reached our door and have no other choice, if necessary, we have to and will let our brothers in,’
The Deputy Prime Minister of turkey has said their country has already homed over 2.5million Syrians and has hit the limit.
‘Turkey has reached the end of its capacity to absorb the refugees.’
‘At the moment, we are admitting some, and are trying to keep others there by providing them with every kind of humanitarian support,’
‘We are not in a position to tell them not to come. If we do, we would be abandoning them to their deaths.’
Germany has already accepted over 1.1million migrants in 2015 alone, experts now estimate that figure is likely to rise significantly throughout 2016.
