2 Stabbed, 1 Dead, After Attack Inside Maryland Church

FREDERICK, Maryland — On 07/26/15, the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office arrested Song Su Kim, age 30 of Falls Church Virginia, on charges of first degree murder, second-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder, and two counts of first-degree assault.

At approximately 7:45 p.m. deputies were dispatched to the Anna Prayer Mountain Church, located on Peters Rd in Urbana, for a report of multiple stabbings. Through the investigation it was determine Kim stabbed a male, age 62, and female age 57, both from Korea, during a church service.

The male and female victims were married. The male victim was pronounced dead on scene. His body was transported to the office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore where an autopsy is scheduled for this morning.

The female victim was transported by Maryland State Police Aviation to R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center where she continues to be treated.

Kim was arrested without incident and transported to the Frederick County Law Enforcement Center for questioning prior to being transported to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center’s Central Booking Unit for processing.

At a Monday news conference, Officials said the suspect used a knife from a kitchen at the retreat center in the attack. Authorities were still looking for the weapon and trying to figure out what exactly the motive might have been.

Jenkins said they don’t know if there was any relationship between the couple who were in the area on a missionary trip for a church group and the suspect.
