SEVERN, Maryland — On Tuesday at 7:57 a.m., officers from the Anne Arundel County Police Department responded to a residence in the 8000 block of Millstone Court in Severn for a report of an unsecured residence.
Upon arrival Western District police officers checked the residence where they discovered the body of an unresponsive adult female suffering from apparent trauma. Also located next to the victim was an approximate five month old infant, who appeared in good health.
Fire department personnel responded to the scene and pronounced the female deceased. Fire personnel then transported the infant to an area hospital for precautionary measures to be examined.
Homicide detectives assisted with technicians from the Evidence Collection Unit scoured the residence and surrounding areas for items of possible evidentiary value.
The victim, identified as Karlyn Serane Ramirez, a twenty-four year old female from the 8000 block of Millstone Court, was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner located in Baltimore Maryland for an autopsy.
Ramirez was an Army Specialist stationed at Fort Meade. Her child was only 5-months-old.
The autopsy revealed Ramirez’ cause of death was gunshot wounds with the manner being homicide.

Detectives are still examining recovered evidence as well as interviewing several witnesses. As this is a very fluid and active investigation the Anne Arundel County Police are urging anyone with information to come forward by calling Homicide Detective Jason McNemar at 410-222-4756.
