TEXAS — On Thursday, August 6, 2015, the Austin Police Department responded to a 911 call of a deceased person in the 7800 blk. of E. Ben White, a Waffle House restaurant parking lot.

The deceased was a 3 ½ month old boy, Carylton Stewart. The cause of death has been ruled hyperthermia.

From TWC News: Officers said an employee of the Waffle House … , spotted Carylton alone in the car, with the engine turned off, outside of the restaurant at around 2:46 p.m.

The employee said the baby was not breathing and that they tried to perform CPR on him until EMS arrived.

TWC News Crews at the scene said an adult male, who was distraught at the scene, was questioned by police. His relationship to the child is unknown.

Because the death has been ruled accidental, no charges were filed and no arrests have been made in the case.

The case remains an open and active investigation and all information gathered will be presented to a grand jury.

The temperature in the interior of an enclosed car can climb 20-30 degrees higher than the exterior temperatures within 10 minutes. Here are some things to remember:

-Never leave a child, elderly person or an animal in a hot car, even briefly
-Always check the front and back seats of your car before you lock it and leave
-Put your purse, wallet, cellular phone, briefcase or something else you need by the car seat so you don’t forget to check
-Put your diaper bag in the front seat of the car so you’ll see it and remember the baby in the back seat
-See a child, elderly person, or animal (pet) alone in a hot car? Call 911 immediately. Get them out ASAP if they are in distress.
